One can picture Blur dressed as pubescent schoolboys in an overexposed black and white pinup, smoking cigarettes in the loo, disinterested with and defeated by life. Picture them being huffed, puffed, blown away, and then run over by the Rolls Royces of Britain's big-bad-wolf band, Oasis. Picture them kidnapped and tied to chairs in a shooting gallery, being made the butt of syringe stoked, solvent fueled jokes cracked by the beautifully self-destructive phoenix that was Suede.
Which is tragic, because if Britpop did indeed help the UK's mercurial alternative rock scene "regain its voice for a while" (Ian Youngs, BBC Entertainment Correspondent) then Blur was the seed from which the it developed.
Blur: out of focus?

Es hora de aceptar que el britpop murió hace tiempo. Es mejor quedarse con el recuerdo de buenas canciones que ver a esos viejos gordos y calvos tratar de hacer un hit en un mundo que ya no es el suyo.
el britpop no murió porque en realidad nunca existió, y si existió, yo lo defendería, así sea un error grande hacerlo. el artículo sabe mostrarlo muy bien.
no creo que blur vaya a grabar más cosas, pero si lo hacen, no veo por qué no puedan hacer un buen disco.
eso de que sean viejos gordos y calvos es una vaina merante estética que en realidad puede preocuparle más a las groupies adolescentes que a los fanáticos de la música.
Está bueno el artículo. Es una lástima que bandas como Blur no sigan en la lucha, sin importar las calcomanías con que quieran marcarlas. De sus contemporáneos, por ejemplo, ni Suede ni Oasis lograron continuar con un buen nivel creativo. De hecho, creo que con el tiempo va a ser claro su relevancia. Nada mas basta con leer esta entrevista en "The Guardian", donde los denominan "arguably Britain's biggest band since the Beatles"...
